Familia Martínez Bujanda's passion for wine reached the second half of the last decade in the Rueda Denomination of Origin (Valladolid, Castilla y León), then an emerging Spanish wine-growing area specializing in the production of quality whites with the personality of a variety of native grape, the Verdejo. Finca Montepedroso has an area of 25 hectares dedicated to the monoculture of Verdejo, with a plantation age that ranges from 7 to 31 years. Located on a plateau at an altitude of 750 metres, the farm has three types of soil characteristic of a region located in the central sector of the depression formed by the Duero river: the alluvial soil (stone edges) that crowns the plateau and the largest payment area (70%); a clay soil in a ravine, with a slope of 10% where the oldest vineyards (31 years) are planted; and a soil with a large quantity of silt and clay sediments, also in a ravine and with slopes of up to 20%.
