Viña Ardanza is made from Tempranillo (80%) and Garnacha (20%). The Tempranillo grapes are about 30 years old and come from the La Cuesta and Montecillo estates, located in Fuenmayor and Cenicero (La Rioja Alta). The Garnacha grapes, on the other hand, come from vineyards planted at an altitude of 600 meters in Tudelilla (La Rioja Baja).
The harvest is carried out completely by hand and the grapes are transported to the winery in refrigerated boxes to keep their properties intact.
In the winery, the must ferments at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks for 15 days.
After vinification, the varieties age separately. The Tempranillo is aged for 36 months in American oak barrels, while the Garnacha is aged for 30 months, also in American oak barrels.
The wines undergo manual rackings, up to 6 times before bottling.
Year after year, renowned specialized critics such as Robert Parker and Wine Spectator have highly rated Viña Ardanza.
